School Description

For more than fifty years, the Istituto Europeo di Design has been operating in the fields of education and research in the disciplines of design, fashion, visual communication and management. Today, the IED is a constantly expanding international network that issues first-level academic diplomas and organises three-year courses, Masters courses, continuous professional development and advanced training courses.

The Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) was born in Milan more than 50 years ago as a private institution specialized in the field of education and research on design and communication. Today, IED is an international network in continuous expansion, with seats in Milan, Rome, Florence, Turin, Venice, Como, Cagliari, Madrid, Barcelona, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

The goal of the Istituto Europeo di Design is to train youngsters in the fields of Design, Fashion, Visual Communication and Management for Creative Industries, providing them with efficient implements to become capable of responding to the demands of the current professional world. To do so, the school has developed an innovative and diversified didactic methodology, which deals with aspects such as technology and experimentation, expressiveness in messages and integrated communication, along with market problems and new scenarios.

Course Description

Around 10,000 people from about 90 different countries study at IED every year. More than 200 courses are being imparted, between Undergraduate Degrees in Design, Bachelors of Arts (Honours) validated by the University of Westminster, IED Diplomas, Master and Postgraduate Courses, Continuous Study Programs and Summer Courses.

Other information

Each IED location houses four completely independent schools: what unites them is the common denominator of design culture and shared inspiring principles.

IED teaching methods require that all the schools:
• forge strong bonds with the local production and operation systems in their regions;
• interface with their benchmark sectors;
• evolve depending on the growth standards of their underlying markets and professional situations.
