AZOTEA . ARS

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Residence Description

The residency is designed for artists, curators, educators, architects, cultural managers, and anyone interested in engaging with artistic practices beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries. It prioritizes the development of dialogue around contemporary artistic production while creating an environment for exchange, collaboration, and critical discussion among participants.

Space / Program Description

AZOTEA.ARS is a nonprofit and independently funded artist-run space that builds upon the conceptual legacy of downtown Buenos Aires to explore new forms of institutional practice grounded in openness, hospitality, and sustainability. More than a physical venue, AZOTEA is a platform where hybrid and multidimensional institutional practices—including interventions, performances, screenings, educational programs, and sound-based experiences—foster collaborative ways of working based on shared interests.

A central aspect of its practice is the synchronization of its public programming with its day-to-day activities, testing discursive and socially engaged models that shape artistic processes in constant evolution.

Within this broader framework, the residency program and artists' studios operate as collaborative platforms. Rather than functioning as isolated retreats for artistic production, the residencies are conceived as spaces of coexistence, where the exchange of knowledge and skills transforms hospitality into a methodological tool for horizontal collaboration and the hybridization of individual and collective forms of knowledge.
