BAFWEEK x Istituto Marangoni: Velasco Autores Awarded the Scholarship in the 10th Edition of the Competition
As part of a new edition of BAFWEEK, the final stage of the 10th edition of the BAFWEEK x Istituto Marangoni Competition, presented by FAD Connection, took place. The initiative aims to support Argentina’s emerging fashion talent by creating international educational opportunities for designers developing their practice within the local creative scene.
This year’s finalists were Garcia Bello, Valentina Schuchner, Velasco Autores, and Edu De Crisci, who showcased their collections as part of the official BAFWEEK runway schedule. Through their collections, each designer presented a distinctive vision of contemporary fashion, exploring different conceptual, aesthetic, and construction-driven approaches.
The Final Stage of the Process
The closing event took place on Wednesday, March 11, at 10:00 a.m., when the finalists presented their collections and participated in the final pitching session before the jury.
During the session, each designer offered deeper insight into the concept, research, and creative development behind their collection. This final stage provided an opportunity to expand on what had been showcased on the runway, creating a space for dialogue where participants shared their creative processes, references, and design decisions.
The projects were evaluated by a jury composed of Belén Baldelomar, Director of DMAG; Paula Guardia Bourdin, fashion journalist and MSc in Fashion Management; Ferni Moreno, fashion speaker and editor; Carola Sainz, fashion journalist; and Federica Levrero, Director of FAD Connection and Official Representative of Istituto Marangoni.
Following the presentations and a thorough evaluation of each project, the jury deliberated to select the winner of this year’s competition.
Velasco Autores Named Scholarship Winner
Following the final evaluation, Velasco Autores was selected as the winner and awarded a scholarship to attend a course at Istituto Marangoni Milano in September 2026.
Developed in collaboration by BAFWEEK, Istituto Marangoni, and FAD Connection, the program continues to establish itself as a key platform for showcasing and supporting emerging Argentine designers, strengthening their path toward the international fashion scene.
