Sotheby’s Institute of Art presents Online Masterclass

Women Art Collectors from Isabella d’Este to Peggy Guggenheim

Sotheby’s Institute of Art announces a new online masterclass dedicated to exploring the fundamental role of women collectors who have shaped the history of art. From the Renaissance to the 20th century, the session offers a journey through key figures who used artistic creation and patronage as tools to transcend the gender conventions of their time and build cultural power and influence.

Overview

This masterclass explores the collections of women who played a key role in the art world. Throughout the session, the trajectories of Isabella d’Este, Madame de Pompadour, and Peggy Guggenheim will be examined, analyzing the works they assembled over the course of their lives.

This session once again invites reflection on how understanding art is also a way of understanding the world we live in.
