Tour Recap! Stop 1: Montevideo at Magma Futura
Montevideo at Magma Futura
The first stop of our tour took us to Montevideo, where we had the pleasure of visiting Magma Futura, a space that breathes creativity and experimentation.
The day began with an inspiring talk by Diana Marian Murek (Director of Education | Istituto Marangoni Milano), who introduced us to the world of Algorealismo and how this movement is redefining the relationship between technology, art, and design. She shared examples of recent projects and reflected on how creatives can incorporate these ideas into their own processes, inviting everyone to question and explore new forms of expression.
Next, the MUF Q&A allowed attendees to get closer to the vision of the space, learn about its projects, and understand how they foster innovation and collaboration among artists and designers. It was a very dynamic session, where questions flowed freely and led to enriching conversations that showcased the enthusiasm and curiosity of everyone present.
In the antesala, we presented Vision Club, a screening of contemporary audiovisual works in dialogue with fashion, art, and design.
Featuring Istituto Marangoni alumni:
- Viviana Buvinic · Diluted Mortality (2024)’
- Nina Sikulajove · Schiaparelli (2024)
- Flavia Prudente · Flora y Fauna, Cartier (2024)
- Carlotta Popolizio · Clique (2024)
- Ziggy Tai · Artificial Dreamscapes (2024)
We want to give special thanks to Bodega Oceánica José Ignacio for joining us for the toast and sharing a celebratory moment at the end of the day. Also, a big thanks to the DJ who accompanied us with music during the event, creating the perfect atmosphere for everyone to enjoy this first stop of the tour.
We are also grateful for the support of Superlocal, Moweek, Istituto Italiano di Cultura, and the Embassy of Italy in Uruguay.
We closed the day feeling energized and grateful: Montevideo welcomed us with open arms and left us certain that the local creative community is incredibly talented and open to new ideas. Without a doubt, it was a memorable start to our tour.
