Women Art Collectors: a screening followed by conversation and shared resonances

At Estudio Las Estrellas, we hosted a screening of the Women Art Collectors masterclass by Sotheby’s Art Institute — a gathering that brought together people interested in art, collecting, and the narratives shaping a contemporary cultural perspective.

The event offered a moment to pause and watch the talk collectively, followed by an open space for exchange and conversation. The discussion — moderated by Francisca Vivo — unfolded organically, opening reflections on the role of women in collecting, the emotional bonds with artworks, and the ways collecting practices can also be understood as cultural and political gestures.

The experience highlighted the value of creating in-person spaces where audiovisual screenings become a starting point for collective thinking. We are especially grateful to Estudio Las Estrellas for opening its doors and supporting this first edition, which encourages us to continue developing new screenings and gatherings within this format.

Echoes of the encounter

As a thoughtful extension of the gathering, Anna — an Italian art historian who took part in the screening — published a text on her Substack revisiting some of the ideas and questions that emerged throughout the masterclass and the shared discussion, further exploring collecting as a gesture, a perspective, and a way of relating to art.
