Description

First published in 1991, The ABCs of the Bauhaus has become an essential reference and a true classic among designers.

The book delves into the origins and rise of one of the most widely debated, analyzed, imitated, and disseminated phenomena of modern design: the Bauhaus. It explores the creative impact of its pedagogical experiment on design, psychoanalysis, geometry, early childhood education, and popular culture.

While the texts, contributed by various experts, offer a theoretical and provocative exploration of the foundations of the famous school, the book itself—designed by Ellen Lupton and Abbott Miller—is a visual manifesto of its ideals, brought to life through the editors’ typography and visual composition.

An extraordinary manual, it remains an enduring source of inspiration for design professionals and a revelation for anyone interested in 20th-century culture.
